“A Field Guide To Rare Animals”

  • The Old Bar 74-76 Johnston Street Fitzroy, VIC, 3065 Australia (map)

Alison and Phillip invite you into their menagerie of fantastically rare creatures…

The artists, one self-taught and one classically trained, work with humble materials to bring their drawings to life. The exhibition deals with ideas of play, experimentation and collaborative world-building. Living and working together at a kitchen table studio the artists have found ways to merge their vastly different styles and skill sets into a cohesive grouping of beguiling animals through the use of colour and form. By taking away the traditional tools of the Artist, Alison and Phillip strip the creative process back to basics- tape, paper and paint. Together they have created a vibrant and lively collection of creatures never before seen by human eyes! Don’t be scared; come take a peek in the attic!

Joining the artists on opening night are noise fuelled bands ESP Mayhem and Pondan Idaman!

Opening night September 19

Doors at 7pm

This event is sponsored by our friends and supporters of the arts, Mountain Goat brewing. The exhibition will be open 3pm – 8pm every day until October 2.
