FUNDRAISER FOR PROJECT 491: CASH SAVAGE & THE LAST DRINKS + DING DING DING + JOSHUA SEYMOUR
G'day,
A couple of weeks back the QLD government blocked gender affirming care for people under 18. Given the rates of suicide in our trans kids, this is absolutly unacceptable.
The crew at AusPath have started Project491 to help the 491 people who are directly affected by this cruel decision get access to timely care.
You can read more about it here.
We want to lend our voice and some coin to Project491 so we are putting on a one-off fundraiser show at our spiritual home The Old Bar. All proceeds from the tickets will go to helping these kids.
If you cant make and can spare the coin you can just donate directly here.
Joining us on the night will be Ding Ding Ding and Joshua Seymour.
Hope to see you there,
Cash Savage and The Last Drinks

Ding Ding Ding and Joshua Seymour
Cash Savage & The Last Drinks return to their spiritual homeland The Old Bar for a one off super intimate show before heading overseas for a European tour.
Naarm/Melbourne heavyweights Cash Savage & The Last Drinks' legendary live shows are an overwhelming flood of emotion and sound, with magnetic frontwoman Cash at the centre of the storm.
Savage’s band The Last Drinks are a powerhouse of fierce and brooding energy, every bit as committed to her songs and message.
Each performance by this band is as epic as it is honest, raw and human. A cathartic, communal experience that refuses to give the audience an easy ethical bypass, but challenges listeners to ask themselves the hard questions and step up.
‘One of the most powerful bands in the country… you won’t hear much that’s better than this’
The Guardian
‘A fucking spectacular live phenomenon’
Beat Magazine

Bench Press have always been all heart, all energy, all passion, all intensity, all the time. That's been pretty evident across their three albums, two 7"s, two NZ tours, one tour of Europe, a bunch of Australian tours, one thousand Melbourne shows and a gazillion KMs of pacing.
Join them for their two last shows at The Old Bar on March 21 and 29. Spread over two weekends so they can blow their voices out. Go hard or go home.
This isn't going to be sad, it's a celebration.

FIRM FILTERS + MUNROE + TOU-CAN
Firm Filters return to celebrate the release of their debut single ‘Lyin’ On The Floor’ (releasing Friday 28 March). Joining them on the lineup is alt-folk legends Munroe and indie/psych/soul-ers Tou-Can. Doors at 7:30pm. $15 entry.

MOTOR INN + DOGGEREL + HELL JONES
The MotorInn will hit the Old Bar stage for one last time with their current lineup on March 28 amidst a night of Throttle/Blues/and Desert Rock, via the stylings of close friends, Doggerel, and Hell Jones. Opening the evening will be the unrelenting heavy-highway grooves of Hell Jones, bringing their beefy desert rock guitar riffs to rattle the ol’ but sturdy walls of Old Bar once more. Sandwiched in the middle (where the best bit of the sandwich generally is) are Doggerel, who through the tireless workings of Kier Stevens on the Dobra will traipse through the blues spectrum with the backing of his full band - a rhythm section to melt your face off, and a thumping sax with notes and notes for days. Lastly, the MotorInn play their last show with its current lineup, as its petrol powered front-ended Baritone and Guitar section sadly farewells its low-end and batterie before it takes a small hiatus to get its engine retuned. The retro ‘Throttle Rock’ noise of the MotorInn is like a cruising, bullish-hoard of Triumph Motorcycles … that is, disliked by the sneering high-nosed, puffin faced, pince-nez wearing cafe lot … in other words, Throttle Rock for the people, the people for Throttle Rock. Good talk.

MASAMI KAWAGUCHI & KIM SALMON + SARITA McHARG + POLLY FONIK (The Miffs)
"When legendary Japanese guitarist Masami Kawaguchi and seminal underground Australian artist Kim Salmon came together to collaborate, neither was sure of the direction which they would take.
With equal parts carefree attitude and punk aesthetic, these two guitarists allowed each of their playing styles to overlap and intertwine in a way that neither had quite experienced before.
This became an experience of pure musical communication where the language was not Japanese or English but the notes, chords and tones of their six string instruments.
The result is four pieces of unique, spontaneous composition, performed once only, recorded and now presented for aural digestion on a very short run of coloured vinyl.
Masami and Kim will launch this LP with a one-off show together during Masami's Australian New Rock Syndicate tour:"

PUBLIC HOLIDAY EVE w/ AUGUST AUZINS (SYD) + GLOOMIE + DARCY FOREVERS + SLOWCOACHING
Come celebrate the release of August Auzins new single HOPE ZERO on the 13th December with Gloomie, Darcy Forever and Slowcoaching.
August Auzins emerged from the remnants of Sydney’s post-punk outfit City Rose, driven by his desire to capture the grit, ick, and beauty of his hometown. The project was conceived during a sleepless night in a Brisbane hotel room while on tour with Bristol heroes IDLES. Inspired by their singers honesty, authenticity, and generosity, August felt emboldened to explore the humor in his own terrible truths. Armed with an unapologetic alter ego, he began releasing a series of story-driven songs that delved into his own history of hypocrisy, betrayal, pretension, and unrequited love.
August quickly collaborated with Jonathan Boulet and Kirsty Tickle of Party Dozen, resulting in four tracks featuring Jon’s production and Kirsty’s distinctive saxophone. Following a sold-out single launch at Sydney’s Factory Floor, August retreated from the scene to reimagine a path beyond the kitsch fantasies of sex, drugs, and rock 'n' roll.
In 2025, after failing spectacularly and regretting nothing, August Auzins returns ecstatic -with a new story and new band. Making their debut in NAARM, they proudly introduce the first single from their upcoming album, Hope Zero.

MUTUAL AID FUNDRAISER w/ FILTHY McNASTY'S + KILL BELL + DE PORSAL + CRUSHED LAVENDER + SOGGY POCKETS
Promiscuous, political and punky: Filthy McNasty's have been capturing audiences with their passionate, fierce performances and scathing conviction for the past 1.5 years across Naarm. With almost nothing off limits lyrically or musically, they will suck you into a world of lust, love, rage and social change with their cutting-edge blend of classic hard punk, grunge, new wave, rap, goth, post-punk and beyond. Their highly anticipated debut single 'Intimacy' is now available to stream on all platforms. More music coming very soon.
KILL BELL is a grungy post-punk force that formed in 2019, inspired by the unapologetic spirit of 90s Riot Grrrls and the crunchy guitar tones of 80s rock. Since then, they’ve released two critically acclaimed albums and earned a reputation for their captivating live shows. Sharing stages with acts like Johnny Hunter, Moaning Lisa, and RVG, KILL BELL continues to enthral audiences with their fierce sound and relentless energy.
De Porsal is the brainchild of the child brain of De Porsal. From their humble beginnings writing quaint indie rock tunes for simpler times, they now bring you their latest creation known as ‘mutt music’: a hybrid of egg punk, jangly pop rock and industrial psych all wrapped up neatly in their latest LP ‘Dishlickers’. It’s fast, dumb, manic and at times scary, but importantly very danceable (but mostly pretty dumb). Simple music for tough times. Operating on Wurundjeri and Wadawurrung country.
Crushed Lavender are a 4 piece queer punk band from Naarm/Melbourne who hope to bring riot grrrl inspired music to the local scene. After meeting at a high school music program, the band has been regularly gigging for the past couple years and taken on many iconic venues across Melbourne. Consisting of Olly, Bella, Yas, and Claudia - Crushed Lavender are inspired by iconic bands like The Runaways and Bikini Kill, and hope to bring the same raw energy and anger to their shows! They released their first EP last year, and are looking forward to a great 2025 filled with shows and new songs.
The Soggy Pockets are a 5 piece Indie-rock band. Local to Naarm, The Band have been playing gigs all over “Victoria” for almost 2 years. You are bound to have a fun time at a “soggy” show. Dance, sing along, interact with the band and enjoy the high-energy music. Consisting of Georgina Stallard doing lead vocals, Declan Quin on Guitar, Ben Heitmann on Guitar and Backing Vocals, Toby Bruce on Bass guitar and George Costello on Drums. Soon to release music in 2025, Come to their shows to hear their tunes before they come out! Some original track titles include: RUN! (You’re A Woman), Lying Lazy, The Probleminator, 16 YR OLD HOUSE PARTY. The Soggy Pockets are constantly writing new music and experimenting with different sounds and styles, taking influence from artists like: King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard, Courtney Barnett, Teen Jesus and the Jean Teasers, PRIVATE FUNCTION and Teenage Dads. Come see what all the fuss is about at @thesoggypockets on all platforms. STAY SOGGY.

MEDICATED LOVE - FINAL SHOW + TINY RED HOUSES + TYPESET
It is with a heavy hea... No! No cliches! God I hate generic band talk.
But this is heavy-ish content coming up...
Medicated Love have decided to call it a day. And when I say 'we', really, I should say 'I'.
It's a miracle that I was even able to start this band, start any band for that matter! Being a drummer for the majority of my life kinda pigeonholed me into having the one role within a band forrrrrrreverrrrrrrr.
UNTIL! I made a huge leap and decided to try and write my own songs, sing my own lyrics, create something all on my lonesome.
And from there my confidence slowly built up, and I was able to convince 3 other legends to jump on board with me to play these songs live. It's been amazing having their creative input and thoughts, not to mention their skills in the studio.
We've had some bloody great times, and I'm SO proud of the songs that we have created (there's even some unreleased bangers I'll piff up one day).
But when you find your band on the backburner, not front and centre, not getting the attention, time and funds that it truly deserves, you realise it may be time to hang up the boots.
But, we've decided to share one more night with y'all...
Joining us Friday Feb 14th at @theoldbar will be the amazing @tinyredhouses and the awesome @typeset_band 🎉
Can't wait to go out on a good note with family and friends with us 🖤
No pre-sales! Just cheap door tix on the night!
Always, ML xx

GRACE WOODROFE + MATILDA DUNCAN
Grace Woodroofe's early career produced music with poignant potential; the striking singer/songwriter with an enigmatic quality was discovered and signed by the late Heath Ledger.
Ledger introduced Grace to the iconic Ben Harper, who would go on to produce her critically-acclaimed debut album, Always Want. A gorgeous blend of influences that evoked the sonic density of PJ Harvey and Cat Power, delivered through Woodroofe’s unique lens.
Woodroofe has been praised for her dynamic and engaging performances at a run of festivals as well as on
stages supporting artists like alt-J, Glass Animals, Matt Corby, and Jack Johnson, and Ben Harper both in
Australia and abroad.
Woodroofe is now gearing up to release her first full-length studio album in over ten years, working with collaborators such as Oscar Dawson (Holy Holy), Dustin Tebbutt and Matt Corby and will be previewing songs from her forthcoming album for the first time, detailing the journey that brought her back to herself and her artistry.
Joined by Special Guest, Matilda Dunn.
“She’s astonishing... And I don’t use that word but maybe once a decade.”
BEN HARPER
“...a singer and songwriter who can be haunted in one song, jolting in the next and somehow always at home
within the darkness she conjures. Every track, gentle or hard, leaves (her) voice exposed in all its doleful
intimacy.”
THE NEW YORK TIMES
“Grace Woodroofe sang like a woman possessed, trying to exorcise herself by sheer force of will. The result was
captivating, like watching Fiona Apple, if she were Jack White...”
THE BOSTON GLOBE
