FREE ENTRY ARVO SHOW w/ KYE ARNOT + FOLLOW THE ROBIN
Join us for an intimate afternoon of indie-folk music and storytelling, featuring two of Melbourne's captivating emerging artists: Kye Arnot and Follow The Robin.
Kye Arnot is a singer/songwriter living in the Yarra Ranges. A self-taught guitarist and vocalist, he has been honing his love for music since 2020. Documenting his experiences in love, heartbreak and growing up, Kye uses songwriting as a way to turn poetry into song. Describing his music as ‘folk-ish’, Kye draws inspiration from traditional folk, while adding a new contemporary sound to his songs. Making his debut at Sofar Sounds last august, Kye Arnot is solidifying his place well within the Melbourne music scene.
Joining him is Follow The Robin, known for weaving enchanting tunes that capture the essence of raw emotion and poetic storytelling. Delving into themes of longing, belonging, and the bittersweet transitions of life, Follow the Robin invites listeners to connect with the hidden parts of themselves. Through her music, she creates a space for vulnerability and self-reflection, making each performance a deeply personal journey. Follow the Robin has established herself as a compelling presence in the local music scene. As a finalist in the 2023 Australian Folk Music Awards (AFMA), she continues to gain recognition for her heartfelt and poignant artistry.

BOYSNLOVE - launch + POSTURES + MIA LUCY
To celebrate the release of their singleLove It All (Out June 20), BoysnLove play The Old Bar on July 3 with support from Postures and Mia Lucy.
Self-produced and recorded between Cactus Room in Thornbury and the band’s own DIY home studio,Love It Allis a slow-burning confessional—delicate and raw, but pulsing with quiet power. Led by Annie Rose Collis’ compelling vocal performance, the track explores the complexity of loving someonenot despite their flaws, but because of them—and the emotional clarity that can come from sitting with the mess.“You still can’t look me in the eye for too long / Cos you know I’d crawl inside and love it all,” sings Collis—a lyric that lands like a confession and a dare. Blending ‘90s alt-rock grit with a dusky Americana warmth, BoysnLove continue to hone their soundwith fierce intimacy and unfiltered emotion. Since the release of their debut album Just Desserts, theband has built a reputation for emotionally charged live shows and unforgettable songwriting, sharingstages with Middle Kids, Nadia Reid, and Phantastic Ferniture.

FREE ENTRY ARVO SHOW w/ THE MEAN TIMES - launch + BORN SECRET
The Mean Times cordially invite you to their descent into Hell - the new single from their upcoming album 'Feel More Dumb', out September via Golden Robot Records. Your reckoning will take place at The Old Bar on Saturday, 5 July 2025, assuming civilisation holds until then.
A garage-pop, post-punk panic attack masquerading as a good time, Hell is part sermon, part sleaze, and fully off its medication. There are euphemisms. There are hips thrusting. There is very little moral clarity.
It’s the sound of a breakdown having a breakdown, propped up by a rhythm section that hits like a stolen shopping trolley careening down hill.
Born Secret will be joining the fray, and frankly, should know better.
Free entry
Doors open at 3PM.
Born Secret at 4PM
The Mean Times at 5PM
Redemption not available at this venue.

SPACE JUNK - launch + SWEDISH MAGAZINES + ASSTEROID + THE NOWA NOWAS
Melbourne scuzz rock heavyweights SPACEJUNK are on tour this June and July in support of their long awaited third LP "JUNK TIME" available now through TUFF CUFF records.
JUNK TIME was created across the COVID winter and lost years of 2020-2023 – equal parts post hardcore fury and burn out riffage, JUNK TIME attempts to face the impending doom and gloom of the apocalypse but is driven to distraction by the minutiae of slow-moving traffic, frivolous scene politics, old kinds of kicks, irrational arachnophobia, hang-xiety induced paranoia and the final mindless descent.
Recorded and mixed by Max Ducker at Cellar sessions in Coburg (BATPISS, DEAD, LUNATIC, AFFORDABLE REPAYMENTS) and mastered in San Francisco by John Paul McBain (WELLWATER CONSPIRACY, MONSTER MAGNET, DESERT SESSIONS, QOTSA) JUNK TIME is SPACEJUNK’s strongest offering to date, featuring singles "Beard of Spiders", "Mud Drip" and "Traffic Sewer" the band continue to build upon their proto-punk framework and push out into wider sonic textures and deep space claustrophobia.
The JUNK TIME album launch tour makes a stop at the jewel in Fitzroy’s crown The Old Bar along with action rock’n’rollers SWEDISH MAGAZINES, nostalgic alt-rock ASSTEROID and new garage rock supergroup THE NOWA NOWAS play their first ever show.

BABY COOL + ARBES + LAKE KELLY
After a year of performing solo, Baby Cool hits the road this July for a run of East Coast shows with the full band. Blending psych, folk and a touch of country, Grace Cuell (Nice Biscuit) brings her solo project to life with a rich lineup featuring Lisa Kelly (Lake Kelly) on harp, Sam Joseph and Kellie Murphy (Family Jordan) on pedal steel and keys, and rhythm section Nick Cavendish and Kurt Melvin (Nice Biscuit).
Following the release of her debut album Earthling on the Road to Self Love, Baby Cool has played UK festivals like The Great Escape and Wide Awake, and supported acts including King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard, Thee Sacred Souls, Allah Las, and Blonde Redhead.
These shows offer a rare chance to catch the full band in a small venue — don’t miss it.

FREE ENTRY ARVO SHOW w/ COLD IRONS BOUND + THE PECCADILLOS
CIB & Peccs back at The Oldie. Free Sunday Arvo Show.
COLD IRONS BOUND:
Straddling the alternate tunings of Americana and the heart of a scruffy rock n roll bar band, well respected Melbourne four piece Cold Irons Bound recall the best distorted twang of the last 50 years. Think Tom Petty jamming with Teenage Fanclub.
Ostensibly hiding in plain sight other than to an astute few up to this point, the third Cold Irons Bound record, “No Place I Can’t Find You” shines a profound light on one of Australia's most melodic acts.
THE PECCADILLOES
This Naarm/Melbourne based quartet purvey keenly observed, wry tales of suburban bliss &/or frustration in a musical style spanning 90s garage/indie rock to Americana. Think Guided by Voices vs Mermaid Avenue era Wilco with a side serve of Sebadoh/Dinosaur Jr.
Guitarist/singer Paul Trigg (Stigg, Cassette, Letterbox Lambs) and drummer/singer Simon Braxton (Fur Patrol) have made music together on and off since the mid '90s. As of late 2020 they're joined by Derek Anderson (The Council, Ramblin' Gold) on bass, with Felix Potier (The ReChords, Maquina Peligrosa) joining on guitar and vocals in 2023.

Double Dole Stringband play innovative and driving old-time tunes. Holding down the fiddle, banjo, mandolin, guitar, and vocals both sweet and rowdy, they've become stalwarts at venues around their borrowed hometown of Naarm/Melbourne, as well as folk festivals across the country
The band ventured into the studio in winter 2024 to record their debut full-length album, with the first single Lewin’s/Rusty’s released in February and the album set for release in Spring of 2025. When they're not playing original tunes, you can find them calling high energy bushdances, running inclusive old-time sessions, and picking into the wee hours.
---
Aoife Nic Dhiarmada is an Irish traditional singer and fiddle player who’s seen frequently performing, teaching and hosting at sessions and festivals around Ireland and Australia. Aoife is a founding member of the Naarm Traditional Singers Circle, Folk Artists for Palestine Naarm, and teaches traditional singing at Melbourne Comhaltas.
---

Accompanying herself on guitar and mandolin, her richly melodic music invites listeners into a space of thoughtful reflection. With a voice that is both expressive and unguarded, she delivers what Timber and Steel called “some of the most poignant songs I’ve heard in ages.”
---

NED COLLETTE & WIREWALKER + THALIA ZEDEK (USA) + RYAN DAVIS ROSEHOUSE DUO (USA)
Berlin-based Melburnian Ned Collette got his start in experimental and improvised music, before gravitating increasingly towards songwriting. His literate, evocative songs are paired with music that's both adventurous and eclectic, and his albums exist inside a dynamic flux of folk, jazz and avant rock.
Ned’s most recent album, Our Other History, was released late in 2024 on the US label Sophomore Lounge and features contributions from regular collaborators including Jim White and Mick Turner of the Dirty Three, Chris Abrahams of The Necks, folk singer Leah Senior, and other luminaries of adventurous music worldwide. His live performances drift between delicate, intimate folk and explorative sonic jam-outs, both when performing solo or in various band combinations.
Over the years Ned has collaborated and toured with such artists as Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy, Joanna Newsom, Cat Power, Bill Callahan, St Vincent, Kurt Vile and Deerhoof, amongst many others. Funny, haunting and sad, often all at once, the music nonetheless manages to remain plain-spoken and uncluttered, despite its expansive vision.
“Ned’s music wears its modernity subtly and surely and is as rewarding a listening experience as I’ve come across in recent times.” – Will Oldham
Thalia Zedek’s considerable body of work demonstrates a clarity of vision, a singular performance style, and an expansive range. Her ability to deliver raw emotions through her vivid stories of loss and hope, strife and triumph is unmatched. Thalia has long been a melodic songwriter in iconic bands like Come and Live Skull and never hesitates to speak truth to power. Her new album The Boat Outside Your Window, just out on Thrill Jockey, finds Thalia contemplating absence and distance, with songs as spirited as they are profoundly moving. Unlike some of her more politically-charged earlier work, the songs on The Boat Outside Your Window reflect inwards, deftly uncovering how external realities manifest in our internal worlds, and Thalia’s unique musical voice remains potent and pointed.
At the frayed bottom-edge of Indiana – just a moderate bike ride north of Louisville, Kentucky – multi-instrumentalist, artist and songwriter Ryan Davis’s Americana-noir soundwaves have been emanating for years in myriad forms. As driving force of the lauded State Champion, long-running member of Tropical Trash, administrator of the esoteric and excellent Cropped Out Festival, and lone proprietor of the Sophomore Lounge label, Ryan has recently produced his first proper ‘solo’ release with Dancing On The Edge – a rich, 2-LP tapestry of tunes that absolutely glows over seven expansive cuts (given an exclusive Australian CD release by Newtown’s own Repressed Records). It’s a pure collage of modernity and heritage. After a period of introspection spent re-immersing himself in his drawing & painting practice, as well as his newfound delvings into instrumental music, Davis’ sea change was imminent. “I wasn’t sure I would ever make another record of ‘song’ songs,” he says, “but last year I started writing again and it eventually took the shape of the record at hand. I worked painstakingly hard on the material and the process pulled me out of a strange place. There’s a load of inspiration captured in the grooves with Ryan’s unfiltered, folk-traditioned approach to poetic twists-of-tongue meeting head on with sublime instrumentation.
