FREE ENTRY ARVO SHOW w/ BILLY CART CRASH - Launch + THE LONESOME WRANGLERS
Billy Cart Crash – Gator Season Single Launch @ The Old Bar
Billy Cart Crash are a spirited three-piece from Melbourne’s north, blending rockabilly, jump blues, swing, and swamp into a sound that’s all their own. With hard-hitting slap bass, ripping guitar solos and high-octane energy, the band has been lighting up stages for the past year — and now they’re celebrating the digital release of their debut single, Gator Season.
Expect a night of dance-floor grooves, raw rockabilly swagger, and swampy blues attitude as the band brings their originals (and a few wildcards) to life. Their songs nod to traditional rockabilly themes of fast cars, girls and bars, but with a fresh, playful twist that speaks to today.
They’ll be joined by The Lonesome Wranglers, serving up their infectious blend of vintage country, rockabilly and western swing with originals, deep cuts, and unexpected reimaginings.

BORDERLINE (NZ) + ZACHARY LEO + ERICA AVENUE
Borderline is what happens when four best friends grow up making music together and never stop. The New Zealand quartet - Ben Glanfield (vocals/guitar/keys), Jackson Boswell (drums/vocals), Matthew McFadden (lead guitar), and Max Harries (bass) - channel deep connection into a sound that’s as expansive as it is intimate. Blending shimmering pop, funk grooves, and soaring indie-rock anthems, Borderline is quickly becoming one of the most exciting new bands to break out of the Southern Hemisphere.
Formed in Auckland, the band began building momentum with their debut single “Spinning” and breakout Perfect Movie Scene EP. They’ve since earned millions of streams, cracked the NZ and U.S. college radio charts, and sold out shows across New Zealand. In 2024, they left school to pursue music full-time - a decision quickly validated by the success of “Heartbeat,” and their buzzy U.S. debut at SXSW and first UK shows at The Great Escape.
Their new EP Chrysalis (EMPIRE) pushes further, with standout singles “New Romance” (NZ Hot 20 #1), “When It’s Raining,” and “Breakdown” earning spins from BBC Radio 1, Triple J, and major college stations. At the heart of it all is their friendship. “If you can hear our connection in the music,” says Jackson, “that would be really special.”

SOPHISTICATED DINGO - launch + SELF TALK + BARR NUN
Sophisticated Dingo hit the road in August to bring their new EP ‘Other Kid’ to life in bandrooms across Australia!
Off the back of relentless touring with JET, Polish Club, The Terrys, Beddy Rays, Press Club and Dear Seattle, the road-worn Sophisticated Dingo share their new EP ‘Other Kid’. A collection of songs that shout an examination of the dismal existence of modern everyday life.
The release features singles ‘Feels Like Woah’ and ‘Mess Me Around’ and follows on from much revered past releases in ‘Radio On’ and ‘Morning View’.
Sophisticated Dingo is a Garage Rock duo from Melbourne, Australia. Friends since adolescence Jimmy and Lew write songs that are a punch in the face you can relate to.

GIANT HAMMER + FINE MOTOR + JACK HAWLEY
Giant Hammer is an Eora/Sydney-based rock band. Working towards a sound that is loud and literate, the group’s five members each bring their distinct voice and flavour to the band. The songs are sweet and sour, bouncing between twee, Go-Betweens-adjacent numbers and dirty rockers a la Sonic Youth or Fugazi. Their newest single, Three Tulips / Argonauts, sits on the gentler side of their catalogue, and marks their first release with new members Lewis Mosley and August Graham.

LITURGY (USA) + KILAT + CAUSTIC GRIP
Liturgy is the project of Haela Ravenna Hunt-Hendrix, whose yearning, energetic “transcendental black metal” exists in the space between metal, art music and sacred ritual. Its current lineup includes Mario Miron (guitar), Tia Vincent-Clark (bass) and Leo Didkovsky (drums). Celebrated for their fusion of sincere emotion, compositional complexity, stylistic daring and intense live energy, the band is simultaneously a medium and platform for drama and theology. It was founded in the context of Brooklyn DIY as a solo project by Hunt-Hendrix in 2005 while she was studying philosophy and classical composition at Columbia. In 2009 Hunt-Hendrix stimulated fervent conversation in the music world with her text “Transcendental Black Metal”, and after expanding to a quartet they made waves globally with their 2011 sophomore album Aesthethica for fusing black metal with math rock and infusing the form with a counterintuitively loving, emotional energy. Their ambitious 2015 album The Ark Work was controversial for its incorporation of IDM and trap production into their musical language. In fall 2019 they solidified this sound world with their highly acclaimed fourth studio album H.A.Q.Q., which is tied to an ongoing philosophical YouTube lecture series. Their fifth studio album, an opera entitled Origin of the Alimonies, was released in November 2020, recorded with an eight-piece chamber ensemble and performed at Roadburn festival in 2021 as the live score to an eponymous film created by Hunt-Hendrix. After a solo sculpture exhibition in 2022, the album 93696 was released in 2023 followed by an extensive world tour.
“Liturgy have always brought a proggy, sprawling ambition to their music, but rarely have all the pieces locked into place so elegantly. 93696 can be pulverizing, but it’s also gentle, and amid the brutality lie some of Hunt-Hendrix’s prettiest and most ornate songs yet… Listening to [Haela Ravenna Hunt-Hendrix’s] band in full command of its sound, weaving between passages of chaotic release and delicate beauty, it sounds as if Liturgy have finally found some kind of promised land.” - Pitchfork
"the ambition and creative aesthetics that Hendrix brings to the table through Liturgy continue to be something to behold" - The Needle Drop
“One of the year's most unique and inspiring metal releases.” - Exclaim, best albums of 2023

CAPTAIN BEEPBOOP - Residency + LXRP + BILLIAM
Captain Beep-boop is a transistor-based trans sister who plays electronic punk music on a DIY circuit-bent 1990s Telstra “Bluephone” payphone. Every Tuesday in August, she will be joined on The Old Bar stage by a collection of her favourite noise makers, including Boggle, Ding Ding Ding, Clit Split, LXRP, My Guardian Angel, Cosmic Whiplash and Power Tools. Come and take the Beep-boop test.
