Darren "D.C" Cross is an Australian guitarist and storyteller forging a distinct, landscape-driven musical identity. Blending the influence of 1960s and 70s American Primitive and British folk mainstays—like John Fahey, Leo Kottke, Elizabeth Cotten, Nick Drake, and Bert Jansch—he brings an adventurous, hypnotic perspective to instrumental acoustic guitar. He is a fiercely independent DIY artist who books his own shows, manages, records, produces, designs, and operates his own label, No Drums Records.

Across a 25-year career with 17 albums released since 1998, Cross has created music across various projects including his solo work, Gerling, and Jep and Dep. He has written songs with diverse creators from Kool Keith to Kylie Minogue and shared stages with international and local heavyweights including Beastie Boys, Beck, Happy Mondays, Johnny Marr, Courtney Barnett, Ryley Walker, Will Oldham, Marissa Anderson, The Apartments, and Jim White.

Cross maintains an extensive touring footprint across regional Australia and international circuits, having completed a 6-week, 19-show tour across Germany, France, and Belgium, as well as serving as the main support for Ed Kuepper's East Coast Australian tour. His live performances suit everything from major concert halls to intimate, deep-listening art spaces, with recent dates at the City Recital Hall, Art Gallery of NSW, People's Republic, and The Red House. Known for pairing intricate fingerstyle guitar with engaging storytelling, he delivers a captivating and intimate live set.

Off the back of their recent sophomore single “Distance” XS are hosting a release show at Old bar accompanied by acts Gush and Idle flowers. With each act bringing a different style of music this will be a night for music lovers who enjoy everything. XS will be putting on a stunning hard hitting indie electronica performance while also dazzling the audience with their live visuals created by their own Aiden Campbell. This isn’t a show you’re going to want to miss.

Melbourne indie rockers Glasshives return to The Old Bar to celebrate the launch of their debut album, ‘How You Feel’.

Formed in 2025, the five-piece have quickly made their mark on Melbourne’s scene, channelling the spirit of ’90s indie favourites like Pavement, Pixies and The Brian Jonestown Massacre. Blending indie and alt-rock with touches of psych and shoegaze, Glasshives bring it all together with punchy riffs, infectious lead lines and big, hook-driven songs.

Following a steady string of singles released over the past few months, the 15-track ‘How You Feel’ marks the band’s first full-length release and the culmination of their first year together.

We’re bloody excited to announce the launch of our new album “In Summerland” — our third record and, quite possibly, our most raw, gritty and unapologetically ugly one yet.

“In Summerland” is personal. A little bit of vendetta, a little bit of love letter, and a whole lot of dark poetry, cinema, literature and relationships that went spectacularly off the rails. Raw vocals, visceral guitars, gnarly bass and primal drums — all stripped back to the bone and left rough around the edges. No polish, no frills, just River of Snakes at our most direct, angry and gloriously unhinged.
We’re launching the album at The Old Bar on Saturday October 17th, with the grunge awesomeness of SNUB and the loud, proud queer feminist post-punk fury of Terrible Muriel.
