DOGWORLD + GUSH + AIRLINES
// GUSH // have crafted their unique sound, which blends post grunge, shoegaze, and dreemo, from years of performing and experimenting in the Melbourne music scene. Fuzzed out wall-of-sound guitars often form the bedrock of their sound. The music is permeated with melodic bass lines, beautiful vocal harmonies, and is punctuated with punchy drums.
// Dogworld // strikes a mercurial sound balancing heavy post-punk, alt country, and jazz sonics, with strong melodic intuition. The four piece have made waves in Canberra since forming in 2021 with their trademark raw energetic performance style.
Now based in Melbourne, pushing the release of their debut ep 'Range' - Dogworld are quickly becoming a vital act to watch in 2025.
“Great big thunderheads of feedback come from // Airline// ’s set, plaintive vocals sat delicately in a giant storm of noise. Epic in scope but still very personal, it sounds like monstrous waves crashing on a shore, but somehow they’re still all landing right on top of you in particular.” ~ The Underground Stage
THE TOOT TOOT TOOTS + CHERRYWOOD + J. TAYLOR BELL & THE DING DONGS
The Toot Toot Toots made their long awaited return last month, performing a best-of set including spaghetti western murder ballads, raucous country hoe downs and epic ELO inspired pop songs in front of a sell-out crowd. Now they return to their spiritual home, The Old Bar, for one night only. Joining them will be fellow Old Bar alumni Cherrywood, performing their first set in several years and honky-tonk Texan J. Taylor Bell & the Ding Dongs. Tickets won't last, get in quick!
SCHIZOPHONICS (USA) + GUN LAWS
We’re set for a smokin’ hot summer when our favourite explosive live act THE SCHIZOPHONICS return to take over the stages along the East Coast. Our jaws dropped when we brought them to Oz in 2023 and now we’re ready to do it all again.
Get ready for the unstoppable combination of rock ‘n’ roll energy and showmanship, fuelling the band’s wild live show with flavours of James Brown, Iggy Pop, Hendrix… we could go on, you’ve just gotta see this band live as they will blow minds with their high voltage set!
Since forming in San Diego in 2009, singer/guitarist/ultimate dancer Pat Beers and drummer Lety Beers have played hundreds of shows around the planet, generating fans through their pulsating and electrifying shows.
“Like watching some insane hybrid of Wayne Kramer, James Brown and the Tasmanian Devil.” – Shindig Magazine.
The Schizophonics have been hailed as the ‘wildest live band in America’, so let’s get wild this summer with our excellent friends coming soon to a venue near you this January and February.

OUR CARLSON - Launch + UNITS OF MEASUREMENT + CAPTAIN BEEPBOOP
Our Carlson releases the first single “Hyper Pop Money Song” off debut album OC Spray.
An uplifting Hyper Pop number through the lens of Our Carlson, dealing with issues of disability in a Collapsing economy while finding income through alternative means in lieu of government support.
“Had a fit the other week and now we can’t work but I’m not disabled enough for benefits and music ain’t paying shit so I’ll get some on tick and hit the streets I guess?”
DJ Cash Daddy will be steering the ship on the Tracks like a VLine and throwing some banter to match. Rumours are floating around that Cash Daddy is Mean Jean Okerland reborn and we may or may not address this issue on the night.
All the hits and some new bangers from the rich tapestry that is the debut Our Carlson album OC Spray.
Support comes from from hot new act that twists Beach-side classics - Michael Beach’s new band Units Of Measurement:
"Beach/Brown/Fikerle - three experienced campaigners and mutual admirers drifting into planetary alignment. Freewheeling explorations of harmonics and rhythm with dynamic swell. Pushing and pulling at the threads of the Michael Beach songbook - quickly becoming one of the most revered catalogues in Melbourne.”
More support coming from my most listened to artist of 2024 Captain Beep-Boop.
Captain Beep-boop is a transistor-based trans sister who plays electronic punk songs on a modified Telstra “Bluephone” payphone.

GRACE WOODROFE + MATILDA DUNCAN
Grace Woodroofe's early career produced music with poignant potential; the striking singer/songwriter with an enigmatic quality was discovered and signed by the late Heath Ledger.
Ledger introduced Grace to the iconic Ben Harper, who would go on to produce her critically-acclaimed debut album, Always Want. A gorgeous blend of influences that evoked the sonic density of PJ Harvey and Cat Power, delivered through Woodroofe’s unique lens.
Woodroofe has been praised for her dynamic and engaging performances at a run of festivals as well as on
stages supporting artists like alt-J, Glass Animals, Matt Corby, and Jack Johnson, and Ben Harper both in
Australia and abroad.
Woodroofe is now gearing up to release her first full-length studio album in over ten years, working with collaborators such as Oscar Dawson (Holy Holy), Dustin Tebbutt and Matt Corby and will be previewing songs from her forthcoming album for the first time, detailing the journey that brought her back to herself and her artistry.
Joined by Special Guest, Matilda Dunn.
“She’s astonishing... And I don’t use that word but maybe once a decade.”
BEN HARPER
“...a singer and songwriter who can be haunted in one song, jolting in the next and somehow always at home
within the darkness she conjures. Every track, gentle or hard, leaves (her) voice exposed in all its doleful
intimacy.”
THE NEW YORK TIMES
“Grace Woodroofe sang like a woman possessed, trying to exorcise herself by sheer force of will. The result was
captivating, like watching Fiona Apple, if she were Jack White...”
THE BOSTON GLOBE
MEDICATED LOVE - FINAL SHOW + TINY RED HOUSES + TYPESET
It is with a heavy hea... No! No cliches! God I hate generic band talk.
But this is heavy-ish content coming up...
Medicated Love have decided to call it a day. And when I say 'we', really, I should say 'I'.
It's a miracle that I was even able to start this band, start any band for that matter! Being a drummer for the majority of my life kinda pigeonholed me into having the one role within a band forrrrrrreverrrrrrrr.
UNTIL! I made a huge leap and decided to try and write my own songs, sing my own lyrics, create something all on my lonesome.
And from there my confidence slowly built up, and I was able to convince 3 other legends to jump on board with me to play these songs live. It's been amazing having their creative input and thoughts, not to mention their skills in the studio.
We've had some bloody great times, and I'm SO proud of the songs that we have created (there's even some unreleased bangers I'll piff up one day).
But when you find your band on the backburner, not front and centre, not getting the attention, time and funds that it truly deserves, you realise it may be time to hang up the boots.
But, we've decided to share one more night with y'all...
Joining us Friday Feb 14th at @theoldbar will be the amazing @tinyredhouses and the awesome @typeset_band 🎉
Can't wait to go out on a good note with family and friends with us 🖤
No pre-sales! Just cheap door tix on the night!
Always, ML xx

DON'T THANK ME, SPANK ME + LORETTA MILLER BAND + ARABELLA & THE HEIST + DJ RICHIE 1250
Don’t Thank Me, Spank Me! celebrate their first ever tour to ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Japan! ⭐️⭐️⭐️ with a send off gig at The Old Bar on Jan 18. With supports from local stars Arabella and the Heist and Loretta Miller Band, and a late night set from DJ Richie 1250, this will be a night to remember.
DTMSM have established a unique sound that combines the rebellious spirit of The Runaways with the catchy melodies of The Bangles, pop songwriting ala Britney Spears and the sass and flamboyance reminiscent of Prince. With hard hitting harmonies and shredding solos DTMSM tear the roof down with their rock n roll energy.
Their 2024 was jam packed with successes. Their debut album, Don't Thank Me, Spank Me!, released in 2024, has been highly praised by Australian music fans. Their album launch was a sell out show at iconic Naarm venue, The Tote. They sold out their first vinyl order, expanded their merch line to include underwear (a logical addition), toured their album to Moruya/Sydney/Newcastle/Brisbane and made new friends up the East Coast. They now embark on a Japan tour to take their music overseas for the very first time.
ARABELLA AND THE HEIST
Powerful, fierce and electrifying Arabella and The Heist are a four piece femme-punk band. Forming in 2019 in Melbourne, Australia, the outfit has taken their cues from rock icons, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, The Dead Weather and The Pretenders stirred in with a fast hit of punk seduction.
LORETTA MILLER BAND
Blending worlds of alt country, indie Americana, 70’s tinged soul and Rock n’ Roll - Loretta Miller is the real deal. No stranger to adoring crowds, famous rooms, and hot stages, the indomitable front woman of beloved Melbourne outfit JAZZPARTY is stretching out and leading her own band for the first time. On the precipice of her first album as a solo artist, Loretta saw her debut single DOG roar out of the gates in March 2023 and has been garnering rave reviews across Victoria ever since.
RICHIE 1250
Richie1250 has presented his strange and luxurious radio program STONE LOVE on PBS FM since 2006 and run his SLOW GRIND FEVER and SLOW GRIND 80s dances since 2013. The SLOW GRIND FEVER series of LPs he compiles for Stag-O-Lee records in Germany is currently up to it's 12th volume. He enjoys playing 40s jazz 78s, 60s soul 45s, 70s yacht rock LP cuts, 80s rap 12"s, and Megan Thee Stallion WAV files. Sometimes all in the same evening. An audience member was once heard to say "this guy, he always zigs just when you think he's gonna zag."

MORBID MONDAYS w/ OPERANT (BERLIN) + FALSE FATE + BACCHUS HARSH
OPERANT
https://totalblack.bandcamp.com/album/vape-n-bleed
Berlin based live duo and production unit, OPERANT, have progressively carved out their own space in the European electronic scene with boundary defying sonic explorations, fueled with tension and obscurity.
A collaborative project between Instruments Of Discipline founder, Luna Vassarotti and August Skipper (Agency, YANWYTYA), OPERANT brutally morphs as it pleases, devouring and absorbing all in its path, from extra terrestrial black-metal, singularity-sludge, proto-psy-trance, anime noise-core techno to auto-tuned trap-folk.
Fresh from a transformative five-week residency in Uganda with the pan-African label Nyege Nyege—which included a blistering performance at the world-renowned Nyege Nyege Festival
—
OPERANT’s ceaseless evolution continues to unfold on the global stage.
Following the release of their debut LP, Traumkörpe , the duo now prepare to tour in support of their forthcoming EP, Vape N Bleed, a split release on Total Black and Instruments Of Discipline.

SWEATSHOP - launch + LOW MONROE & THE FUGITIVES + MILKSICK + PROJECTILE DYSFUNCTION
Detailing the demise of swaggering machismo, SWEATSHOP's newest single RICKY SIX is set to release everywhere Jan 4th and they're throwing a party that night to welcome it into the world. Returning to their regular haunt, the Old Bar, the site of their first headline show, they're joined by the noir punk LOW MONROE & THE FUGITIVES, post-punk weirdos MILKSICK and the punk pirates PROJECTILE DYSFUNCTION for a night of joyous noise so come join the celebrations!
A noisy post-punk four piece looking to entertain and be outright loud, Naarm-based band SWEATSHOP find fun in the impossible to ignore violence of everyday, inspired by anxieties of the modern world and all things Australian Gothic. Setting tall tales of suburban dystopia, religious zealotry, hostile hospitality and misanthropic extremism to their own unique brand of post-punk, they hope to say something while still having a good time in the neverending pre-apocalypse.
LOW MONROE & THE FUGITIVES are arguably Naarm's most wanted/underrated post-punk act at this point in time. With a heavy heart on noir symbolism while blending goth rock with subtle undertones of dark jazz, the group have been spreading the word through energetic and ominous performances across the state. Labeled as "Noir-Punk", and compared to some of the greats like Bauhaus and Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds; it definitely may be worth your while stepping into the hazy world that Low Monroe & the Fugitives reside in.
Post-punk/psych weirdos MILKSICK are doom preaching on a soapbox, stirring up a cauldron of screaming, angular guitars over moody, dread-tinted rhythms.
PROJECTILE DYSFUNCTION is a tight knit band of punk pirates sailing across stages and connecting with audience members through the use of art and play. Expect high energy performances with extensive lore and storylines to tie the voyage themed tracks together onstage.
