MJ Halloran returns to the Melbourne stage to preview his latest record: Woke up and Seen my Reflection at the beloved Old Bar. Combining extensive international recording and touring experience, the record is the latest creative output from MJ’s longstanding musical collaboration with multi-instrumentalist Steve Boyle on grand piano (Rowland S Howard, Spencer P Jones), and musical maestro Tim O’Shannassy on drums (Paradise Motel) who are joined by the enigmatic Andrew (skinny) McGee on guitar. The show will be a unique performance of sublime, intimate and soulful tunes and tracks with opening performances by the charismatic and prodigious Julitha Ryan (Silver Ray) and the wistful and elusive Roller One.
“MJ’s voice is measured and huge by turns, as is the sound and the songs”
“Dramatic, cascading piano. If Julitha Ryan was playing in my city I’d be doing my utmost to see every gig”
“Roller One beckon the listener into the deep and shifting time of each song, leaving behind the world as it is known”.
