Ov Pain – the artist couple Barrance and Player – have given us a new batch of weirdness
with their latest record ‘Kauri Island’. Reading like a shortlist of haunted sonic anomies
it’s an impressive follow up album to their acclaimed ‘The Churning Blue of Noon’ of
2021. ‘Kauri Island’ is a work notable for its starkness and dissonance, equally, too, for its
propulsive bottom-end warmth and minimalist drone. For this show Ov Pain are joined
by the inscrutable stylist Chris Smith and the harmoniously experimental pairing of Lily
Tait/Jasmin Wing Yin Leung.
