Mundane Mondays & Kaiju presents: Spring Sendoff with Tax Evaders, Baby Shower and The Amelias
Using a combination of danceable funk grooves and raw punk rock live energy, Tax Evaders are a band of four high school mates from the suburbs of Melbourne. Kicking off 2021 with their debut on the Melbourne gigging scene, the quartet have already played 13 shows so far this year including a four week residency at Stay Gold with plans to release music in early 2022. Gaining comparisons to classic pop-rock bands such as INXS and The Killers, Tax Evaders' musicianship and eagerness to make every gig feel like a house party is not to be missed.
“Piss-taking pomp”, “bratty”, “full of attitude but dunked in self-awareness”. Baby Shower are the brazen Melbourne punk band you wouldn’t take home to gran. Mixing witty lowbrow humour with an electric ukulele driven punk sound, they have been described as "taking the piss but in a very cool way.” So, is it ironic? Or a real glimpse into the self centre of a youth determined to scream and kick at the walls of society? Either way, Baby Shower seem determined to stiffly stick both middle fingers in the face of social privilege. But like, in a cool way.
As for The Amelias, we’ll you’re just gonna have to find out
